Mother’s Day Weekend Fun

May 11th, 2009 by Josh

Dawn, Collin, mom and myself had a great time over Mother’s Day weekend as we rode 4 wheelers all day Saturday and then shot pistols on Sunday at the outdoor range in Garland.  Below is a picture of mom and I after crawling through the mud pit along the lake at Rocky Ridge.  That was the first of many mud holes for the day!  We even saw a wild turkey that came darting across the trail right in front of us.  I thought Collin was going to wreck into the back of us when he saw the turkey.  The second picture below is Collin and Dawn (way down at the bottom) crawling up about a 100 ft hill that is much steeper then it looks in the picture.  Anyways, it was a great weekend and we were happy to spend it with mom!

GM lawsuit for Trailblazer SS :: Man GM has some SMART lawyers

December 4th, 2008 by Josh

So Dawn and I finally had our state hearing with GM regarding our 2007 Trailblazer SS leaning 20/32 (.63 for the GM attorney that came up with the fraction but couldn’t convert it) toward the passenger side.  Bottom line is that our evidence clearly showed that GM had made plenty of attempts to resolve the issue in which each time they were not successful.  We made it clear that we believe the vehicle is unsafe after the having the airbag blowout while we were driving.  We just want GM to buy back their unsafe vehicle so we can purchase a safe vehicle for our family.

The best was the super intelligent comment that the GM attorney made when he stated, “If you put someone in the driver seat wouldn’t the vehicle level out and therefore it would appear that the vehicle was not leaning if you were driving behind it?”.  Dawn and I must be stupid for not thinking of just having an extra 400 lb person riding around with us on the driver’s side everywhere we go.

Guess that is what we should expect from a company that would ask for a mega million bailout and not have a plan in hand for the money.  Go GM!!

Family Cook Off??

September 16th, 2008 by Josh

Well, I think that a family cook off has been a long time coming between myself, Bruce and Wes.  All three of us have our specialties and we love to cook outside.  I am thinking that once  a month we pick a meat or dish that all three of us throw down on.  The nice part is that with all three of us cooking we each only have to make a smaller portion which will keep the cost down for everyone.  We can trade off houses to eat the goods and the ladies in the family can each throw together a side dish to go with the meats.  Sound like a good excuse to have regular family get together?  What should be the frequency?  (bi-weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, annual)

ATV Discounter Complaint

November 6th, 2007 by Josh

We purchased a Kazuma 90 Deluxe from ATV Discounter in TX on Monday, October 29, 2007. We were told that the bike was coming from their unit in Ft Worth and would be in Carrollton on Tuesday ready for delivery on Wednesday at the latest. When we called on Wednesday for an update on the order we were told that it was on its way from Ft Worth and they would have it ready by EOB. After never receiving an update on Wednesday afternoon, we called to find that nobody would answer or return our voicemails left on their salesperson cell phone. We called three times on Thursday before we finally got to speak with a manager that told us the bike had to be delivered from Houston (notice a different origination location?) and would be ready on Friday for pickup. We contacted the manager on Friday to find that the bike still was not delivered and now would be there on Saturday. We still have not received the bike to date (11/06/2007). We are having problems understanding why they would take our money (full payment) with promise to deliver by a specific date and yet when the date has slipped 4 times they are not offering compensation for their failure to deliver the goods as promised.

We finally spoke with the manager again on Monday, 11/05/2007 and he confirmed that they will refund my money but it may take them some time as they are not sure if it is possible to refund the debit directly to our account. These people are a scam and we will do everything in our power to see that their business fails.

We have filed a complaint with the BBB asking that the final resolution be the total refund of the ATV ($755.56) and refund of gas for driving to the location from Frisco ($30.00). Total requested refund of $785.56 which we think is more then fair.

Another Marital Test

June 11th, 2007 by Josh

Dawn and I truly tested our love this past weekend while we worked day after day to complete our new pond and waterfall.  I have been told that during a few small outbreaks I made noises similar to wild pigs in heat!  It is great to know that your wife can just sit back and make fun of you as your swear at an inanimate object as if it is going to respond.  Anyhow, the result is awesome for our first pond.  We can’t wait to share it with our future guests! The Owens’ Pond

Man blown out of his chair when his niece says “I DO”

May 21st, 2007 by Josh

On May 12, 2007, a loving uncle was attending his niece’s wedding in South Padre Island, TX. During the ceremony he questioned his niece’s judgment to marry the groom. It was said that when the bride said, “I Do”, that a strong wind came from the sea and blew the uncle out of his chair. See picture below:

A Day Out w/ Thomas

April 3rd, 2007 by Josh

Dawn, Collin and I all went for a Day Out with Thomas the Tank Engine on Friday, March 31, 2007.  Despite it being a little cloudy and windy we managed to have a very good time.  There were plenty of activities for us to do as a family and the train ride on the passenger cars behind Thomas was really nice.  Just as we finished our train ride the bottom decided to fall out of the sky.  A great day with Thomas the Tank Engine!Collin w/ Thomas the Tank Engine

Big Blue Political BS - Continued

March 22nd, 2007 by Josh

Well, what I thought was the unthinkable has happened. Turns out that the IBM Executive Team has built a business case with my manager to keep me in Bentonville. This was also highly influenced by the customer as they demanded that I remain a resource on the account. Both of these cases put me in a great position to negotiate my “on-site time” in Bentonville. Not only have they agreed to promote me, due to my senior expertise, but they have also agreed that I may work from home and only travel when necessary. This entire deal has caused chaos between two departments within IBM. Looks like I will continue on my journey in Bentonville.
